Door seals rubbing noises.

I have a little over 55,000 miles on the 09 Extended Cab now and I noticed the other day when driving that I can hear the door seals lightly squeaking on all of the doors as I am going over bumps in the road, as if the doors are not closed all the way, but they are. The bigger the bumps the louder the rubbing noise. I hope there isn't anything wrong, maybe the truck is just getting old and noises are starting.

Anyone have this happening on their truck?

Silicone spray. Good stuff. Spray it on all the rubber. I usually do it at oil changes.

Don't waste your time fighting this issue. Ron. There is no fix and GM doesn't care about the problem whatsoever! In 2009, I sued GM over this issue on my 2008 ext cab POS. My dealer actually backed me in court testifying and showed evidence to prove my case with 2 lawyers representing me. However, I still lost because the jury found that even though this 1 year old truck that I kept spotless and in perfect condition sounded like a log wagon it still performed as it should and posed so safety issue., GM Is the winner!

So, how can a small time low income guy like me take on and win a case like this against General Motors? I should have known I could not win! Lesson learned.

The dealer literally SOAKED every door numerous times with silicone spray every time i took it in and within 1-2 days it was right back squeaking like a ragged pile of sh_t. Even my dealer was shaking their heads in disbelief. They tried every thing they could think of and nothing worked.

use Dow Corning 4 or 111 grease. It is like rtv silicone that never dries. put on with your finger (after cleaning the door seals) and wipe off with a lint free rag. It will make the doors sound sticky when opening, but eliminate the squeaking. I did this on my 2011 last year, and have not need to re-apply yet.

Just a suggestion.

Cheers, Brendan

In between my gmt400 and gmt900 I drove a BMW E46 3 series coupe. Squeaky door and window seals were a problem with this model. BMW dealer used and recommended Gummi Pflege, and IT DOES WORK. BMW endorsed it such that they had it in their parts system with a BMW part # (and the requisite BMW parts markup). No silicone in it either to my knowledge. It's worth a shot.

I have had some good luck with Gummi Pflege but Krytox GPL205 grease is the best. Pricey though.

Clean them and use silicone spray. DO NOT tighten latches or anything like that if there is no fitment issue. GM actually makes a dressing for this but it's just silicone spray. I think its one of the many reasons that they do not offer the extended cab anymore.
