silveradosid Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 has anyone installed one of these aftermarket remote start systems Fortin EVO-GMT3 All-In-One T-Harness/Alarm System Combo , do they actually work
cubangt Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Im not looking at that brand/model, but found a GM factory remote start kit for $200+, once installed suppose to be able to take to dealer to have the FOB's programmed, waiting for fitment confirmation from seller before I order.
silveradosid Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 yes I also looked at those, wasn't sure my truck had the right rpo codes. with the fortin system no dealer programming necessary and still use your factory remote
cubangt Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 So from what I read on the site for that model you are looking at, is there any need for additional modules in order to have remote start? or with just that piece we could have remote start after installation.
silveradosid Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 I sent fortin an email their reply was to call their number for more technical advice
cubangt Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I see, the GM lists this on the link Part Number: 22997089Brand: GMRemote Start Extended Rage w/ 2 Fobs Required RPO List AQQ, MYC, UJM, XL7) Please send us your vin to ensure you have the correct option codes.
silveradosid Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 ya seen them one ebay for 200 bucks , but then you still have to go to stealership for programming lol
Tattooo Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 ya seen them one ebay for 200 bucks , but then you still have to go to stealership for programming lol" stealership " [emoji12]
cubangt Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 From what ive heard here, it would be about $75 to $100 to program, unless you have someone you know that works at the dealership. Im still trying to determine if I want it and would def prefer all factory upgrades, but we will see..
ewbldavis Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I have it (from factory). Wasn't a "must", but glad it is on there for Ohio winters. We had CompuStar aftermarket on Trailblazer - worked ok, but much happier to have OEM. If RPO Codes are good and you can get factory remote start, with Stealership programming, for $275-300, that is better cost than aftermarket and WAY better IMO.
silveradosid Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 that's a great price in the great old usa, but in Canada the stealership quoted 485 for hardware and 125 to program and you wonder wht I call them a stealership lol
cubangt Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I am currently waiting on my connection at the dealership as well as my sales guy to see what it would cost to program once installed. If its what I found elsewhere ($75-$100) I may go ahead and get it.
cubangt Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Just heard back $89 to program once installed. Not bad. So may go ahead with it.
silveradosid Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 this weekend I decided to try this remote start from fortin. I bought the evo-one with the gm harness and the flash unit. programmed the unit for remote start and installed in an hour. this system works great, uses your factory remote and was under 200 bucks Canadian. if anyone is interested to try one of these units don't buy the programmer I will send you mine to use.
