2014 GMC CC Std Bed Gooseneck??

I've got a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with 4.3L V6 & CC - Std Bed configuration. I want to tow a 16ft gooseneck livestock trailer. The trailer I'm looking to tow weighs 3850# with out payload. In the owner's manual, there is a (b) note next to my truck configuration. The (b) note indicates "This model is neither designed nor intended to tow fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailers." The line below the 4.3 V6 shows a 5.3 V8 with 3.08 gearing & 100# less towing capacity but no indication about gooseneck restrictions. I know this isn't the ideal truck to tow a gooseneck but it is a free work truck. I don't understand how a truck with less towing capacity (5.3L V8 with 3.08 gears) is "ok" for a gooseneck but the V6 with higher tow capacity is not ok. I don't think that GM would change the frame & suspension just for the 4.3L V6 which would change the tow capacity.

Read through the trailering guide on gmc's site under the 1500's. I believe that there are three different size rear axles. One for the v6, one for the 5.3 non max trailering, and one for the 6.2 and all max trailering packages. Each has a ragwr raiting

The axles are set up differently, on top of that, a 4,000lb trailer empty leaves you with only 3,000lbs of payload on the trailer and far less than that on the truck depending on tongue weight. What do you need to move that would require that heavy of a trailer to be used? Sound's like you should've bought a 3.42 geared v8 at a minimum and possibly more than that depending on what you're hauling. Keep in mind, your payload capacity on the truck included bed and cab weight which means people, gear and the load transferred from the goose neck to the bed.

A V6 towing a gooseneck just sounds like a horrible idea. I'm all for using a truck and its capacities. But gooseneck trailers are intended for hauling heavy items. I can't imagine a scenario where you wouldn't be maxing out your truck and then some. Sounds like a vehicle upgrade is due.

I haven't towed a gooseneck, but I've towed my 16ft trailer with a weight distribution hitch and probably close to 8k lbs. It towed it really well but I wasn't going fast 55mph and mpg was around 11 for 50 miles
