2015 2500 HD Leveling Kit/ Tire Size

Alright Guys,

 

I know this topic has been around for a long time, and every time a new body style comes out it starts over again.

With that being said, I would appreciate some opinions/pictures of a 2015 2500HD with a leveling kit and bigger tires running stock 20s. I know the wheel wells are smaller on the 15s than the 14s (more square). I bought a new HD a few months ago and want to know about the different leveling kits and the biggest tire that can be ran with NO SCRUBBING OR TRIMMING. I definitely do not want to go the cheapest way out on a brand new truck with only doing keys and I don't want to do a lift kit.

Dang I think your truck looks damn good. Like white trucks I left the rake on mine cause we haul gear all the time. :thumbs:

Awesome truck man! You dont have a leveling kit or anything? Doesn't look like it just making sure.

No lift, I really think I could go bigger. As long as you use OEM wheel cause of the offset you'll be good. It came with 265/60

After looking at several companies leveling kits. It looks like 295/55/20 is the biggest size before you start rubbing.

That sounds about right. Seems like all these GM trucks now days are 33" with 2" level, 35 with 4" or 6" lift and 37" with 8". But you have to watch your offset too. For example I have 35/13.5r20 Toyo R/T's with -24 offset and rub at full lock in reverse when not on flat ground. Other than that I'm fine. Now if my lift didn't increase my track width by 1.5" on each side I'd be ok.

The Cognito level kits are very popular. They come with new keys, new upper control arms, and shock extensions or new shocks. And guys are running 34" tires on stock rims without any trouble. Some are running 35" with minor trimming. If you're keeping your stock 20" rims, then I'd look at 275/65/20, 285/65/20, 305/55/20, or 295/60/20. If I had to pick, I like the look of 295/60/20's best.

I cranked up the torsion bars 6 turns just to get the front leveled up. I'm getting some new Fuel wheels 9x20 and I want to go to a bigger tire. What size should I go with?

I just put Fuel Flow 18x9 with +20 offset and 275/70/R18 tires. So that is 33.2 x11 size. I leveled the truck 2 inches and have factory plastic mudflaps. If I had the typical rubber 1/4 in thick mudflaps they would rub. Right now I have zero rubbing and I think even without the torsion bars cranked up it would be ok. But any bigger will rub.

I went 8 turns and fit 35/12.50's no problem

Just got my Fuel Nutz wheels 20x10 -12 offset with lt295/55r20 E Toyo AT2. I've got about 8 full turns on the stock torsion keys and put shock extensions on. It's not quite leveled and has a slight rake. I'm very happy with the stance and the looks however I'm getting some rubbing on the mud guards. I was able to wire tie the front felt out of the way so no trouble there. I need maybe 1/4 of a inch more clearance at the mud guards. How can I get a little more clearance without any major surgery? Has anybody experienced this?

The 15+ actually have more room than the 2011-14 trucks. Most guys are going with 275/65/20's on stock rims with no problems but some are also throwing on 295/60/20s and larger on stock rims with no problems.

      This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.

      Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.

      Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....

      Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
