Sierra FXR Retrofit

OK so I'm not going to go into detail of how to actually retrofit the headlights but I will post some output shots. And a little comparison to my wife's audi a3 with stock hid lights.

If you want to see how to do this retrofit visit fastheadlights.com I used their mounting bracket.

I will say the bracket was dissapointing in overall quality for the $70 it cost but I would still recommend it for how easy it makes mounting the FXR projectors.

Anyhow onto the output shots

First shot my truck close up against the garage door.

Here's the output of my wife's a3

The projectors are aligned correctly the truck is on a slight angle in the pictures.

I'll take more pictures if requested!

Looks great. I had Fxrs in my 2011 f150, they are great projectors. Did you buy the entire FXr kit from them? I just read through their retrofit guide and it seems like its a pretty easy retro...might consider doing this....

I purchased the FXR'S from the retrofit source as well as bulbs and d2s connectors. More options and great customer service from them.

Plus they have a phone number to call and speak with someone. Where fast headlights is email only.

The install was simple, the hardest part was cutting the post on the oem bracket to mount the fastheadlights bracket. Due to size constraints and I was using a large hot knife soldering iron for all my cuts

Yea you cant beat TRS, they are the best when it comes to retrofit materials.

Good info. I have been thinking about upgrading the lights and havent decided on LED's or HID retrofit.

The fxr retro is definitely a no going back to stock situation, however the output is well above any led I've seen, barring the actual jewel leds of the new audi and Acura vehicles, but that's a totally different animal all together .

The stock projector in the Sierra is very poor design even with the halogen bulb it was designed for

As I was searching FXRs I came across this thread. One thing I would like to point out as Ive paid to have FXRs put into my 15 denali... A) my cut off line is very sloppy, the light has something going on. I'll post a picture. B) if you look at the OP's pictures where he posts the FXR against the garage door compared to the audi, you will see that the audi actually lights up more of the door and the house above the cut off line where the fxrs dont... I'll tell you right now, that difference is seeing animal eyes or not, seeing a broken down vehicles taillights or not, seeing road markers or not.

Ive driven almost 1000km on the fxrs and am quite disappointed. Everyone will have their own opinion, however on black roads that I drive at night and in the morning... the stock projector with retro solutions xb35 hids were a safer feeling setup.

pictures as promised. The red circle marks the cut off line/blob that I have going on... To adjust the headlights so it goes away, the passenger headlight is pointing at the bumper and the drivers headlight is pointing normal.. From the place that built these for me... I am told they are FXR's so thats what Im going with.
