How come Makita wasn't one of the choices?  I thought they were pretty popular.  Not that I like them or anything, just seems conspicuously absent.

And Snap-On or Ingersoll-Rand is the best for air tools.

I generally buy DeWalt, but depends on exact tool.  I have Milwaukee, Bosch, and Ryobi also.

The best circular saw I ever used was a Skil 7 1/4".

Tough call.  Milwaukee for recip saws....toss up on corded drills between Milwaukee and Porter Cable.  Cordless drills though I'd go Panasonic.

BTW  Dewalt is the professional quality line of Black and Decker.

I have an assortment of all.  Bosch, Ryobi, "Blue-Point" which is Snap-On's rebadged Makita, etc, etc.

Now when it comes to hand tools, only Snap-On makes it into my hands!

We are not really that particular with what brand of tools get used around my house.  For the most part we have Milwaukee, Black and Decker, or Craftsmen.  All seem to have worked pretty good, so which ever brand we can get a deal on is the one that we buy.  The one brand we don't have around is Dewalt, and probably won't ever have any around.

Hey! Something Newbie knows about!!! 2 days in a row!

Why wont your house ever have any Dewalt's Kansas Kid?  Gotta be a good story behind this one....

I dont like one particular brand for all tools.  All depends on what I am buying.  I definitely agree with siume9 on Milwaukee for reciprocating saws.  I pick Porter Cable for routers, Jet for my table saw (but would love to have a Delta Unisaw which is the king of table saws)  Powermatic is good also.  Craftsman is good for handtools but suck for power tools generally speaking (JMO!).  I have a Delta drill press that works well and is heavy duty.  Laguna for band saws.  I have a 12" miter saw by Bosch that is great.  Garrett Wade hand tools for wood working are cool.... not cheap though...

I have used and liked both DeWalt and Makita power tools.  They both work great.  Craftsman is good for handtools, but like Newbie said, not great powerwise.  We have a Dremel too, and it is fun to play with

I have a Dewalt store down the street from me also.  They have one of the trucks too.  Makita sanders.  Forgot that one.  Anyone ever hear of "Grizzly" tools? Pretty good tools for GREAT price.  Have a cordless drill by them and its great.  Not sure I'd want it if I was a contractor or professonial day in day out carpenter but for most of us they are great.  Grizzly.com I believe.  Check them out.
