HT 383 TBI

Howdy, I will be installing a new GM HT 383 Crate Motor in my 93 3/4 ton Suburban. Going to get the new GM Vortec to TBI intake also. I was going to get a Holley TBI but, they say their unit will not handle over 275 hp and the 383 has 325 hp. Turbo City has one that they say will work at a cost of $500 plus a $250 chip. Will a Big Block TBI unit work with a chip? Is there a better solution? Kevin

Turbocity is a ripoff.

Here's how I would do it. The 670cfm 2" Holley throttle body, supports a maximum of about 400hp worth of airflow. The limiting factor is the Holley (Dodge) 50pph sidedraft TBI injectors. To make it work, I'd use the Holley TB and replace the injectors with a set of 83pph big block 7.4l injectors and a custom TBI chip from www.pcmforless.com.  That will give you the airflow you need, adequate fuel, and customized delivery. You can then sell your Holley/Dodge injectors on fleabay for a few bucks too.

I don't do as much TBI in my shop as I used to, but the above receipe is a proven winner.

Thanxs for the input. I did not know if the big block tbi in it self would do the trick. I thought turbo city was a little high. Thanxs again for the input.  Kevin
