Check Eng light

Hello everyone,

 

2003 GMC Yukon Denail 6.0L V8 (had it since new)

 

My check eng light came on last week so I took it to the auto parts store across the street. The error was Sensor 1 Bank 1. I bought a new one and replaced it, but the light is still on, so I took it back the the same store and I reads the same code. I drove it maybe 30 miles witht the eng light on, could I have done damage to another part of the exhust?

 

Please advise me on what I should do. I have have always done my own work so I'm comfortable fixing most things myself.

If you replaced the sensor but the light is still on, you likely just need to clear the code. The auto store should be able to do it.

 

If you clear the code and it comes back, then something else is wrong.

Thanks for the help. Had to remove the PCM 1 fuse turn the key to the on position for 5 min then turn off, replace the fuse and all should be good.
