2016 Silverado 6.2 Constraint/Allocation issue

Hey guys, first time posting, but have been following the forum for some time now. Hoping you all might have some insight for me on the following...

 

I ordered a 16 Silverado double cab Z71 LTZ with the 6.2 back on Sept 16th. While I understand they didnt even start producing the new model year until Oct 6 it has now been a month since start of production and I am still at 1100. I have read elsewhere on this forum about allocation problems. My dealer is fairly large and said they are just waiting for GM to pick it up.

 

The donlen corporation says the current lead time for the 16' Silv is at 10-11 weeks and the 6.2 "may" add an additional 4 weeks of lead time. Of course the lead time for my 14' LTZ when I ordered it was 8-10 and I took delivery after 4...

 

What is a realistic date you think I'll get my truck, or at the least get a TPW? I mean it is a SOLD order afterall.

You should be close to getting a TPW but it might be a Dec. date. Sold orders go before dealer inventory. A lot will depend on your dealer orders for 6.2 vs 5.3 placed ahead of you....they only allocate 10% of production to the 6.2. Not sure how total national orders fit into the dealers allocation. If your dealer has several 6.2 orders ahead of you then that might explain your delay. In my region (NW), orders are pooled until Friday and then order data is updated each Tuesday.

 

My order was placed on September 9-in to GM on 9-11 and my original TPW was 10-6 as of 9-15 changed to 11-16 the next week 9-22. No change since then so I expect mine to fall in a range of a week early to a week later or 11-9 to 11-23.

If your dealer got your order in promptly it would have hit the system with wk after mine so dealer allocation, paint color, trim level??? Who knows! Hope you get a TPW soon

I ordered a 2016 Crew Cab Denali, Standard Bed, 6.2, the 3rd week of October, and I was told by my dealer today that is was built this week and that he would expect to see it towards the end of this month.

Way to make us feel bad!!! Must be a very large dealer or else he didn't order many 6.2's....or life is unfair, ha ha.

By the way, mine was a Denali so might have been something besides motor.

My production week was 26 Oct (Ordered on 30 Sept) and I got a call a few days ago and I can take delivery next week! Now way to do with my car...haha

Part of me was thinking that they are allocating the larger majority of 6.2s to Mexico and the crew cabs versus the double cabs. Anyone with double cab 6.2 get a TPW yet?

Just for fun I checked 2 local dealers. Neither have a 6.2 yet from initial orders. They have some double cabs and crew 1500's and no Denalis ordered with 6.2. Expect them soon. Those getting orders filled so soon might be getting one from dealers initial stock order of 16's.
