98 vs 99+

Gang,

    I've been searching for a while for a 98 SWB 5.7L, but still not much luck.  I've found a lot of 5.3L newer Chevys though.  Is there something that makes these trucks much better than the previous body style?  How does the 5.3L stack up in HP and efficiency vs. the 5.7L?  I have found a few nice Ext Cabs in the 5.3L that I like, but they are a little more than I wanted to spend.  Anyone have any comments?

270HP (99) versus 255HP (98)  The torque on the 99 is 325 and the 98 ???

here is the 5.3 (2003 version) They upped the HP in 2000 from 270 to 285

i couldnt find any info on the 98s

 

I do have a brochure from 98 and ill take a look at that and see if anything is in there

best thing i could find (closest).  My 98 book is buried (redmodeling my room at the moment)
