Change Oil Light Blinks at Every Startup

Hello Folks,

 

After taking my 2002 Silverado in for an oil change I notice that the change oil light blinks a few times at every startup. I do not recall this happening before (just bought this truck), but the mechanic is adamant that this is normal behavior. I did try turning on the truck (without starting the engine) and depressing the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds several times, but to no avail. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Try depressing the gas pedal 4 times all the way to the floor. And as soon as you have done the 4th time start the truck and see what happens. Does the oil change light flash a few times and then turn off?

Yup, you need to pump the gas a couple more times to reset the computer. At least that's the way mine is, 5 times in 3 seconds.
