adding heated mirrors???

on ebay, i won a set of cipa 10x10 towing mirrors and they are the electric/heated ones. my truck didnt come with heated stock mirrors nor rear window defrost. has anyone added heated mirrors? is the truck pre-wired? it seem there needs to be a fuse added and a button on the climate display area.

If you have an "uplevel" truck with power windows, locks, and the deluxe door trim panels, then it is prewired.

You only have to add the control panel (there is one on Ebay now, high bid this morning was $9.87 or thereabouts) and a relay in the underhood fusebox. I can get the part # of the relay if you need it. I think it's $5-something from gmpartsdirect.com, but probably $10-15 total with shipping.

i checked my wireing, all the wires are there! i found hvac controls on ebay. i will bid on it, but first do you know the part number for it so i can check at GM parts direct. the seller of the part on ebay seems cautious that it may not work...came out of a wrecked truck.

My '02 had rear defrost (needed for heated mirrors) but came with the camper style mirrors. I too was looking at replacing them with the power/heated ones but found out that the wiring was there in the passenger side, but not the driver's side.

How dumb is that? So I just gave up and didn't pursue it any further. The rear defrost activates the heated mirrors which I had, but for some reason one side didn't get pre-wired.

So do you think that on my 1999 Tahoe LT (fully Loaded) Except for the heated mirrors is pre wired for the heated mirrors? That would be sweet.

I don't know for sure the part #'s, but if it came out of a current body style truck or SUV, then it will work. My AC controls came out of a 2000 Suburban.

i found the pn for the hvac controls and ordered it at gmpartsdirect for $60.00. my wiring has 8 pins on both sides so it should be plug and play.

Are the 00's prewired? I have an LS and would like to upgrade to Full Feature mirros, but am no in the mood to deal with all the wiring and if there somethings already prewired it would be easier for me to make a decision.

I have a 2001 Sierra SLE. I had to add the relay like gnatgosplat said and an a/c control with the rear defrost button. Mine was prewired but I had to rearrange a couple of the wires and make connectors to put them in the right place in the plug to match up with the plug on the heated mirrors.
