back latch question...

On my 94 jimmy, the rear switch for the window and tailgate broke off, I switched it out, made it to accept the key an everything. The only problem is that when I try to pop the glass with the key in the handle it won't budge. It isn't a big deal because I have the clicker on my keychain, and I can just press the button up front. when I turn it to do the gate it works fine... I am lost at this, but it isn't a big deal until someone else tries to open the back.

Also, my clicker has the button for the back latch where only one press of the button and it unlatches it. When I stick it in my pocket the button will sometimes get pressed and I have to worry about it getting popped. The later ones that look the same require two consecutive presses of the button and would fix my problem. That is probably the reason they changed  the style, so my question is can I buy a later model clicker and have it programmed for my earlier model truck. I have a guy that will do it for me when I go back to work, but I haven't talked to him in a long time so I haven't gotten a chance to ask him yet.

TIA for any replies

Tom
