OK Ted II fans, we all know what the number one most searched term really was. That out of the away, Chevrolet is proud to announce that the Chevy Malibu and Silverado topped the vehicle searches for 2015. This is no surprise for the folks in our industry. We know what people want to read, and we try to deliver on those topics. Suffice it to say that a story about a new Silverado color will do waaay better than a story about an EV getting two more miles of range.

Paul Edwards, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing explained why this matters to GM, saying, “Search plays a tremendous role in educating customers about our products. To see Chevrolet on top of trending car and truck model searches for 2015 further emphasizes that the product, design and technologies that make up our vehicles are resonating with consumers.” We took one glance at the graph above and knew why Silverado was a big success in terms of searches. Simple. The graph starts to go up when the 2016 redesign starts to appear on the web. Our coverage started in earnest in July and picked up during the fall.

The Malibu being the number one car search for the year is a surprise frankly. Since about the 1970 model year the Malibu has been, shall we say, an underachiever. Perhaps that is exactly it. Maybe there are legions of fans waiting to buy the new 2016 Malibu as soon as it becomes competitive with the Camry and Accord. We looked over the data, and again, it is the new design news that put Malibu in its first place search position. Let's all root for the home team and wish the 2016 Malibu the same success on the sales charts.

my sister has the malibu, 3.8l v6.

monster on oil, the sideways blues.

the belly pan where all the seats are feels like a trampoline.

now headed for 400k..non stop.

the oil mystery is going to be a block thrown away, no rebuild...

if she keeps it.

I drove it for a day, found the outside air recirc switch...

it was not used enough , that is my take on the long term demise. Not much else.
