Spark knock with Tuner??

I have a Superchips 2842 for my 2013 GMC truck w/ 5.3 and a CAI....I did the 87 octane tune and now it spark knocks when I really get on it....any suggestions?

Either your timing is too far advanced (by the tune) or the Octane rating of your gasoline is below spec. only other thing would be hotspots inside the engine bore igniting the mixture, you could try running colder plugs. Give it a shot of 89 for a tank or two and see if that fixes it

Like others said, the tune is advancing timing too much. You probably hear a knock when you tip into the throttle then it goes away right? Increase the octane on that same tune until knock is gone. My experience with and SCT tune was the 89 octane tune ran the strongest with 91 octane fuel because the truck was not pulling timing when sensing knock.

Yep these engines are running high compression (11:1) and even with DI, they need more octane to run the way they were meant to run. They get away with running 87 by "bouncing off the knock sensors".
