pacodiablo Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 I have noticed quite a decline in the number of conversion trucks made since the late '90s. I recently saw one on eBay and it got me to thinking about how few new ones I see these days. I remember them being hugely popular in the early to mid '90s, now you hardly see any new ones. Is this because the trucks come from the factory with so many luxury features that a conversion is obsolete? I remember that one of my uncles had a 1993 Chevy C1500 Southern Comfort conversion...
k1500chevy97 Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 They still pump em out up here A company called trailwagons about 15 miles from here makes small van type rvs and truck / van conversions I see quite a few of the 99-02 styles with their conversion on them
MountaineerTom Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 They still have them around here some too. I almost bought a blue Southern Comfort Conversion back in '91, but it was a little more than I wanted to pay. I'm glad I didn't get it. I had fun building up my black '91 the way I wanted too.
The SPEEDY Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 I don't see some of the brands I used to like Trailmaster, but Regency is making up for it. I there are fewer conv. trucks being made I think its because more people are starting to do the custom work theirselfs.
MCourson Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 I check out the dealer lots around here quite often. There is a company about 5 miles from me that does conversions called Sherrod. They seem to be still pumping them out but all I have seen on the lots are a few Tahoes and Avalances sitting on 20s. Other than that they are stock.
99silveradoz71 Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 A dealer south of me had some in the late 90's on the last bs trucks, but I haven't been by there to look since I got my Rado in 99. My dealer doesn't have anything on the lot that I've seen.
