Outboard Shocks

Is there any reason GM hasn't moved the rear shocks outboard on the new trucks? Seems like everything else about the truck puts it right on-par or above the F150. As an Avalanche owner, I've always liked the idea of having them outside the frame. Rear coils would also be a great option, but I don't see them offering that anytime soon. I'm surprised RAM is able to pull it off considering the extra expense/weight.

Thanks!

I drove an F150 for a while, didn't really notice an overall ride improvement with outboard mounted shocks. Maybe a little less body sway.

However, I agree with you on the coil spring rear end. My dad has a Ram and I really like how that thing rides with coils in the rear.

I think that the tradeoff for the Ram's nice ride is reduced towing and hauling capacity. My Silverado rides nice enough and I can tow 9600 lbs. and haul over 2000 lbs. according to the specs. Sometimes I think that these trucks have gotten so nice that we forget their intended purpose. They are trucks. They are still designed to haul and tow, but a lot of folks mostly use them for the family sedan, myself included.

The Ram has horrible axle hope, screw the coil rears!

Can't say anything about F-150, I would think out board shocks would help.
