How to replace heater core in 2000 Chevy Silverado

I am wondering if there is an easy way to replace the heater core in my 2000 Chevy Silverado pick up? Could use some tips and tricks hopefully to make it a little easier than the standard 6and 1/2 hours it says in the books. Am going to try back flushing first but am not too hopeful.
