Carmax was a good way to go for me.

Carmax was a good way to go for me.

I looked at their prices a while back when a co-worker was telling me how good his experience was but I wasn't impressed. I'm apparently good at(or luckly when) negoiating(judging by the deals I usually get at dealers), but if you hate it I can see the no hassle appeal.

While I don't disagree I found the price to be fair (not great but fair) and the process so easy the couple bucks I might have saved were well spent just in reduced hassle.

I think mine was around an hour but most of that was waiting on the other dealer that had the truck to call back.

They found my truck at a dealer 80 miles away but an elderly couple was there and deciding between that truck and another one. They decided to go with the other one and the dealer called my dealer and said it was available.

Ours was 3hr, 20min on our '05 after haggling on the phone and after I drove my trade-in to let them look at and we made the deal. Needing to finish detailing it we were there the next morning to pick it up with a cashiers check in hand for the difference. Got down to handing them the check when they told us it would be $1600 more. My house banker came UNCORKED on the finance guy, we made it to the front door before the GM caught us only to receive a beatdown worse than she gave the other guy. He was pleading with her as to what he could do to make it right. After him getting another, "Take your truck and shove it up your arse!" They decided they had made an error and had put the *add-ons* on the invoice by mistake. They almost lost the deal again when he asked her to give them a favorable review on FB.
