Hi everyone im new to this site so i dont know if im postin this in the right place but here it is.

I have a 2005 avalanche with a 5.3 engine and want to swap it with a 6.0

The 6.0 i found is off of a 2007 nbs silverado so i want to know if the swap would be a direct fit like with most older models or if i would have to do allot of fab work.?

If any one has any info please let me know. Thanks

I hate 2007 model trucks..... honestly. So are you asking about a 2007 that's the same bodystyle as your Avalanche or the bodystyle that went from 2007 to 2013.... and 2014 with the HD's. If it's the newer style they can be retrofitted but are nowhere near plug and play. You need a conversion box for the crank signal, cam and knock sensors are relocated from the older trucks... a 6 liter will have VVT which will need to be disabled..... if its a half ton 6 liter it will have AFM which also need to be disabled.... and you need an X link conversion box for the throttle body.

If it's the same style truck as your Avalanche it's plug and play beyond PCM tuning and that swap gets asked here basically weekly.

2001 to 2007... just the 1999 and 2000 ones with the goofy iron heads and long cranks are to be avoided. Otherwise they are the same engine for all intents. The 2007 models just have to be a 2007 "Classic".... hence I hate the 2007 model year lol.

I was basing off a full engine swap and the electronic throttle bodies. Plus the one prior to 03 had EGR and AIR i think.

Intakes are easily swappable and identical to bolt on through all..

And all run the same injector size.... unless his is a flex fuel 5.3 and then they are larger thus its a free "upgrade". Egr goes with the intake and exhaust manifolds and again is easily removable with no effort from your original engine if you get one with it. I have never seen AIR on any LS ever but I don't live in Cali either.

And if we are getting technical the manifold on an 03 is still no good as it will have a return style rail unlike 2004 and up.

This is true. I just did an LQ9 long block. Even if i used a full engine, it came from an 05 SS.
