I think there is also some data that showed the airaid tube alone ( with factory airbox) produces more HP that the full CAI - go figure.

I would like to see that.....

 

At speed the airaid CAI makes more sence because if the scoop kind of like a "ram air" but from the bottom.... Its not really positioned how i dould like for maximum efficiency but ita there a d i think it does something lol

I'm sure someone will post it.. think the test was done by blackbear. These factory airboxs are actually pretty good.

I believe the weakness of the factory intake is the corregated flex section. I haven't found data where the Helmholtz resonator (muffler) has an effect to flow. The Helmholtz resonator may very well have some adverse effect on flow. I just haven't found information that discusses it. However, there is information on corregated ducts adversely affecting flow compared to a smooth duct of the same diameter. The graphic below shows a visualization of the flow disturbance
