Pretty sure this is where i can post this if not i apologize. But ive got my 2012 1500 silverado. I tow a pretty decen amount with trailers where tow mirrors were just a necessity so i bought some threw them on and love them but im wondering about the 2015 style tow mirrors will those fit onto my 2012? Idc if harness matches up i can get my mechanic to wire it up differently. Mirrors look really nice would be nice to have to reverse lights too

I seen some on Amazon, is the new style but made to fit the previous model. I made a question asking if they are what the picture shows cus according to the description they are the new style mirrors for older models.

These don't have the backup lights, but look to be an option

Note: You cannot upgrade to a power mirror with heated face and turn signal if your OEM mirror is not already equipped with those functions.

I drive an 08 sierra sle and i recently purchased 2015 tow mirrors that fit my truck. The signals, the power and the heat all work great but i want the outside turn signal to be a running light like the new duramaxs. Is that possible?

The 2015 chrome tow mirrors are available on ebay for $180.00 a pair for 2007.5 through 2013 models. They are a direct replacement for the factory models and are excellent quality. The clear LED's on the back side of the mirror need to be connected to a wire that's hot when in reverse to light when the truck is in reverse and when you unlock the doors with the remote. There is a reverse wire connection in the MBEC inside the cab that's will work for this. The front amber lights work only as turn signals unless you modify the wiring to make them work as running lights when the headlights are on. This is a picture of my truck with the mirrors installed.

These mirrors are also the available for prior years if you google for your year.

It's not hard but it does require removing the glass from the mirror, partially dismantling the mirror, cutting a wire in the mirror and pulling a new wire into the mirror from inside the door. The new wire will be connected to a voltage source that has power when the truck lights are on to illuminate the running light. It's possible to have the front turn signal and the running light operational with the addition of a couple of diodes and a resistor wired into the circuit.

I haven't done this because there is a good possibility of breaking one or more mounting tabs on the mirror during disassembly. I'm definitely not going to try removing the glass because of the risk of damage. Given time, someone may find a better way to do this so waiting might be the best choice.

This link below describes the procedure. It's pretty good and gives all necessary details.
