Stripped MAF Sensor Housing...

Recommended Posts

Hey all, over the weekend I uninstalled my K&N intake and replaced it with a Airaid MIT (uses factory intake box and filter). While doing so, I stripped the MAF sensor screw. I only tightened to "two finger tight" as I've done with plastic parts many times and it just stripped the crap out of it.

Anyhow, the intake cover houses the MAF sensor so I guess I'll need a new one. Unfortunately I can only seem to find the entire intake air box assembly and it's not cheap.

Does anyone know where I could find just the cover or am I SOL? (See photo for parts diagram)

I kept mine after replacing the whole thing if you need just the filter lid I'd sell you mine. It's in great condition it was only on the truck for about two months.

Just mix up some epoxy, fill the thread hole, insert screw. Let dry. You now have new threads. That's one way. You can also go onc screw size up and re-tap the housing

Agree with what txab said. Not really holding anything. Your MAF sensor basically just seals the intake tube. One size larger screw will do the job without issue. You will like the MIT. Just a little intake growl and a few extra HP to go with it. Unless your truck is highly modified, it seems the factory airbox will flow what a stock engine needs without issue.
