No Pac Unit for 2015 Silverado?

I wanted to install an aftermarket amp for speakers/sub in my 2015 silverado and with some research it looks like all the year models except for 2015+ has a compatible Pac Unit that can be plugged into the factory 8 inch head unit (non-bose). Has anyone had any success with a plug and play unit (doesn't need to be PAC) that can be used in the non-bose 8" MyLink radio of a 2015 Silverado?

 

I guess if I have to I'll have to splice into the speakers and use a line out converter, really wanted to avoid that especially since it seems like most of the base is coming from the front door speakers and not the rears, so for the sub I'd want to splice into the fronts... which just seems wrong.

If nobody knows of a plug and play, anyone out there that tapped into the speaker wires and used line out converter? Ive seen some vids where people sodered there line outs directly to the wiring harness of the factory head unit. While this works, it is permanent and obvious to the dealer if they ever need to perform warranty work on the radio or something and i dont want that to be an issue. So 1st choice would be plug in play. Next would be tapping into speaker wire such that i could temporarily remove if i needed work done... if this is even a viable option. Im open to all ideas.

I am doing the same thing in a few weeks and was not able to find a compatible one. Crutch field website says one not available for our trucks

These vehicles are getting more complex, your going to need digital sound processer/amp to make the most of your build, your thinking too small in terms of "upgrading" sound system (anyone can add a amp and speakers, problem is limited frequency range/poor sound quality b/c you don't get a clean signal). I know a few guys running these I will ping him and see which brand he's using b/c he has the Sierra Denali BOSE system and it works/works well without BOSE as well, btw he by-passed the BOSE amp, and powers all the speakers (I believe he has high end focal's).

 

With a different sound processor/amp it opens up a world of upgrades, even stock OEM speakers can sound better, this way you can upgrade in phases as the budget for high end stuff gets crazy

 

You'd be surprised what proper sound deadening does for sound quality , along with improved thermal temps & quietness in the cab.

There was a post in the audio threads that someone ran an RTA to see what type of signal was getting thru. By the RTA it wasn't heavily "cleaned" from the factory. I feel different than cam. Replacing your speakers with good quality speakers is the way to start off. Once you ha e the basics then start tweaking with processors to enhan e the quality. My build started with a 12 in sub. World of difference. Then added rear 2 way speakers and waiting for a free weekend to add my component fronts and 4 channel amp that will control all but the sub. The easiest way which is in many post is getting 2 connectors...a 71-2107 http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=71-2107 and a 70-2057 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/r_42085_Metra_Electronics_70-2057.aspx Do not go thru installer. It took over 2 months to get mine and subpar CS. These connectors will allow you to run your wires to an amp and back to stock speaker wiring with no cutting of factory wiring

Jeff, In that thread he using a RTA and confirmed poor SQ, adding speakers really limits their ability and IMO is a complete waste, always start with a good clean signal. Your speakers are only as good as your source, good clean source signal is key! but yes better speakers do improve SQ. I bet you'd be blow away by factory speakers on a good clean signal.

I agree. Not disagreeing. I agree a DSP would be a night and day difference. I've always had a system in my vehicles. I'm sure since your writing too you have as well. I'm like you, I want a thumping, clean, loud and crisp sound. Some ppl just want better bass for rap or better clarity for rock ect. In all honesty I'd love to see a stock system with just adsp stock speakers and no sub can do. DSPs are expensive to...that's why for me I left it for my icing on the cake at the end. With my sub and just rear speakers, front are stock now i am impressed. I did sacrifice rear leg room to add a box right behind my console. I'm only running a jbl gt5-12 in a 1.25 cu in box right now but still . it pounds. I feel once my fronts are done and all does are amped the difference will be phenomenal.
