Help with new truck purchase

Hello all. Any help would be appreiciated. I am looking to purchase a new pickup truck. I have been renting and brrowing for the last year to do work on my house. What is the differance between 1500, 2500, and 2500HD? I am looking for an extended or crew cab as I have a wife and 2 boys. Local GMC dealer has a 2002 2500HD extended cab with Duramax/Allison SLT short bed 4x4. sticker is 43000 and I can buy it for 35000. I plan to purchase a 21-28 foot center console boat that I will tow in the next year or so. PLease forgive my ignorance, I never understood why people pther than plumbers, farmers etc owned pickups until I started doing work on my house and had to wait/pay for delivery or try to load lumber into my Buick. Thank for any info, help.

That doesn't seem to be a bad price if it is a new '02 leftover with very little mileage on it.A crew cab may serve you better if you have two kids though.

With the towing you'll be doing the diesel will perform very well and should last a long time as long as you take care of it.

Seems like they are probably all test drive miles then so it would still be considered new.

It doesn't look like a bad deal to me,just make sure you are going to be able to get away with an extended cab when your children get bigger.

If I were in your situation, I would opt for the crew cab.  Do you need the SLT package?  If not you could get an SLE Crew Cab for the same price as the truck you are looking at.  Also, if you could talk the dealer into an '03 for about the same price you are looking at, try it.  Remember, people aren't always kind to trucks on test drives.  Especially given the power of the Duramax, I would bet there is a good chance someone cut loose with the truck.  Good luck with whatever you choose.  Take my advice for what it's worth.

Lookin...Thats still a LOT of cash for a 02.  Heck you can

get a new 03 for that $$$$.  How about a 1500 crew gasser?

A lot less cash! And mr. dealer will be more than willing to

deal on one of those.

I get the GM employee discount so I get a killer deal!

Heck,  E-mail me the vin# and dealer name and zip code

and i can tell ya the employee price, then go from there.

My bud did this on his 03 GMC and got it for $1500 more

than my price minus rebates, GM card etc............geo
