Bad PCV valve, insides missing

It looks like the weight on the inside of the valve worked it's way through the larger hole.

Looks like it went into the valve cover.

Should I be worried? This was the original one and I've got 230k on the clock. I'm guessing it's just been turned to powder, but I don't know.

One thing I do know for sure, a small metal weight falling into the engine can't be good for it.

So should I be worried? Is it worth the time to try and find it?

For all I know it could have failed befor I even got the truck.

What year vehicle? Starting in 2004, iirc, GM went to a fixed orifice...... no loose or rattling parts, just a hole

Sorry.

2000 silverado 1500 5.3. The new one rattled and there was a noticeable weight difference
