No spark after replacement engine installed

Truck is a 2000 Silverado 2500 6.0/4l80e LT

 

 

 

Long story short, blew up the old 6.0, swapped in a fresh re-man and now I have the following issues:

 

Originally went to fire the truck, acted as if the battery were dead. Fixed that issue by messing with a ground that was missed during instal.

 

After that the truck had no spark, swapped in a new crank senskr and BOOM it fired right up, ran for 30 seconds or so then died. Fired right back up and died again after 15 seconds. Went to try again and it once again would not start, no spark!

 

Replaced cam sensor, no luck

 

Added an additional ground and triple checked factory grounds. All look good.

 

Swapped a 5.3 computer and did security reset, no luck.

 

Then this morning, I swapped my 6.0 computer back in and turned the key. BOOM fired right up and ran perfect!....for 30 seconds. Died, started one more time, died , and now I'm left without spark again.

 

This is my work truck, I have been chasing this problem for 4 days. Am I going crazy?

Might need a crank relearn procedure done ... hopefully that's all. Damn electronics ...

Is it possible to do a case reset without the engine running? Also my scanner isn't pulling any codes so I'm literally shooting from the hip at this point

Never done one, so I couldn't tell you. I'm old school - just started learning about this OBD-II crap 7 years ago. I do know only certain bi-directional scan tools can do a CASE relearn.

 

Wouldn't shock me if GM designed it that way. Anything to make things difficult or expensive, it seems.

Is the fuel pump continuing to run after engine starts? I would find the fuel pump relay power the fuel pump all the time and see if it keeps running.
