my last visit here

Hello all:

This will probably be my last visit here. I will be trading in my Silverado for a new Honda Pilot. I will miss my truck (125,000 miles on it) because of all the fond memories and adventures done in it, but can’t justify having 3 vehicles when only 2 of us drive. I haven’t driven it as much as I used to in the last 9 years due to a career change (Became a Supervising Park Ranger) with a daily 81-mile commute (I bought a civic for that. Easy choice. It was either 18mpg or 40 mpg).

I learned a lot and hope whoever buys “Silver” will have more fun adventures with it. Other than the failed clear coat finish, it runs great.

BTW, I did look at the Chevy Transverse but due to ongoing problems with the transmission and engine, that was removed from our list. The Nissan Pathfinder we didn’t care for and almost decided on the Hyundai Sana Fe in the “1st round” but narrowed it to the Toyota Highlander and the Pilot. If it wasn’t for the poor 3rd row in the Highlander, we would have gotten that.

Thanks for this forum and everything I learned from it!

If it's paid for, why not keep it? My truck sits most of the time now, but man I'm glad I have it!

The pilot is a great vehicle. My parents have one, and it's great when they want to take the grandkids anywhere.

If the trucks paid for, keeping it wouldn't really hurt.

I actually have 2 Silverados and a Cruze to drive to work. My wife just bought a brand new Equinox after crashing her old one and she also has a Malibu for work travel. All of our vehicles don't get used all the time but we keep them anyway. Just because it isn't used much doesn't mean you have to get rid of it. Unless the cost of keeping it can't be justified, and that's understandable because insurance isn't cheap.

Either way, stick around and keep us updated on your new purchase. It's always good to have honest information on other brands that people own.

Yea, hard to get rid of the truck, and yes it is paid for, but don’t need 3 vehicles for 2 drivers. Also, my mother will be giving us her 02 Accord (81,000 miles on it) come July which will become our son’s vehicle when he returns from serving a 2-year mission for our church (LDS) in Italy (That will be May 2017).

Who knows, maybe we won’t be offered enough for our trade ins and if so, I will still have the truck.
