newbie Q2: buying options

Any particular options to consider/avoid that won't be a huge price difference?

I noticed the 4.10 gears are cheap. necessary for a dd + occasional towing? (no rockcrawling/mudding)

what about the soft-ride suspension option?

bose? or factory?

thanks,

Occasional towing, stay with 3.73.  In another post you mention a mudder, so 5000lbs wet..no problem.

If you don't mind factory audio setups, listen in truck at the dealership with your CD and decide if the BOSE would be worth it to you.  If you have the slightest inkling of upgrading the audio, don't waste your money of the BOSE just to end up throwing it out.

Others with 03's have mentioned that if you want full functioning DIC (Drivers Information Center) you need the steering wheel controls, which I think are only part of the driver memory settings option.

There is suppose to be a rebate on it, test drive and consider Quadrasteer.

Softride??  I don't have it, so I couldn't say if it is worth it.  I myself would just change to different shocks if I didn't like the ride.   A 2wd is not a Cadillac ride, but very comfortable.  I just finished a 2 week 2200+ mile road trip vacation, no complaints on the ride.

Don't even think of purchasing a truck without test driving a quadrasteer somewhere in the mix of all the trucks you test drive.  Even if you're not towing, you'll be amazed at the driveablility of the quadrasteer whether it's driving through a crowded parking lot, driving around gates or pulling a u-turn on a small intersection.  Without a doubt, quadrasteer and antilock brakes are the two best features for any pickup.  My two cents.....

I test drove a q-steer Denalie (sp). Nice truck and I was really impressed. There is no truck that handles like one with q-steer. The 6.0 liter in a half ton truck was cool also.

Nice thing is that GM is now putting the quadrasteer in LS and LT models so that one doesn't have to pop for the Denali price just to be able to get quadrasteer.  Cornering with quadrasteer is amazing, and towing - forwards or backwards - is mindblowing.
