Technical question. Please help!

I had my 99 Tahoe code read today because of y Service Engine Soon light being on for some time now and it came back with a code of P1404(Auxilary Emission Control).  Can anyone tell me what exactly this code is and where I should start to look for a problem?  They cleared the code and the light has stayed off so far(only 30 miles).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks for the information.  Do you have any suggestions on where or what I should do from here?  Do I need to remove and clean the EGR(is this even an option) or is replacement inevitable?

 

What are the chances that it might have been a one time failure and now is working ok(since the light has stayed off so far)....  Thanks.

If it does happen again then I would replace the EGR valve.
