Clunk on take off

Why do the trips to the dealer end up costing you? If your truck is a 2014 it should still be under B2B warranty and if that is expired the powertrain warranty should still be good. It shouldn't cost you anything to have it checked!!

 

Last trip was 200 bucks for them to tell me the vibration I have is probably my tires and the could replace those for 1000 bucks (1.5hr shop time and RFB tires)

 

The truck was bought used (though is still under the 12k GM Certified deal). The way it was explained to me is that if they find something that needs repair and it falls under warranty, it's covered - but when they don't find anything wrong I'm on the hook for the bill. Needless to say, my dealer trips haven't been the best. Anyone know a good dealer in MN?

Well put new tires on the truck and new rear shocks. Tires helped some with my vibration (tho I still have a little one), the bump/clunk with a trailer hooked up is still present even after new shocks. Sigh.

 

Might have to bring it to the dealer w/ a trailer in tow to prove it to them... (DOH)

I know this is an older thread, wanted to see if you found out the issue? I have a 16' Silverado z71 6spd/5.3 - with the same clunk issue. It's not all the time. Sometimes upon take off, other times upon braking.

The u-bolt nuts on the rear axle are too loose. I had the problem and TQed them to spec and the clunking went completely away.
