Carb exempt cold air intake?

Just installed the mit tube. Quick install. The airaid will ship to CA when amazon is the seller. Third parties with lower cost and free shipping didn't seem to want to ship to CA.

Installed the MIT and have a drop in K&N filter.

 

First off I hate that the filter box has 4 screws holding it in, yes it keeps out a ton of debris but I have fat hands and one screw in particular is a tough one to get to. Need some extension tools for sure.

 

Anyways after a few weeks I haven't noticed a ton of noise that you might expect. Since it's the OEM filter box there is no loud suction noise and everything seems tame. MPG is up about 2 miles per tank. It's a weekend truck so I only have 700 miles on it in 2 months 300 since the MIT install.

 

I like it, not obnoxious actually really quiet. I live in SoCal so for now it'll do.

FWIW, Chevy does make a CARB exempt CAI.

That's really nice: 550 is a bit high. I paid just under 200 for tube and filter...if need to drive that truck way more to want to spend an extra 350...but you never know its my first bow tie I just might have to!!! Thanks!!!
