Regen notification

Yesterday I noticed that when I was coasting the DIC instant mileage only went to 40-50 instead of the usual 99. Then when I got home I noticed an unusual, though not horribly unpleasant, smell.

Did my DPF do a regen with no notice to me? I never saw "keep driving" or anything on the DIC. e54d3cc790391f521c90c6ed9800671b.jpg

They don't want you to know when the truck is in regen. The only time you will get a message to keep driving if you were to only do very short drives with a lot of starts and stops. When my truck does a regen and I am doing my normal work week drive it takes about 5 10 mile drives for it to complete. I am right at 100,000 miles on my truck and if I did not have the Edge CTS, I would have known about only 2-3 regens in the trucks lifetime. :jester:

I can tell when mine is in regen - RPM's are up at idle, different sound in exhaust at idle and highway speeds, decrease in fuel mileage, exhaust odor and tail pipe is a bit on the warmer side.

I have noticed it takes about 20-25 miles to complete when running at 65-70 mph.

20-30 miles at highway speeds is what it takes to complete a good successful and proper regen.
