INSTALLING BODY LIFT

It is official. I have purchased the body lift. I will be installing it this weekend. It is nice and long so I can take my time. I was wondering if you all have any tips. Now on my tahoe they say nothing about welding the shift extension because it is a cable. This is true right? Other than that should I get under there and spray everything with WD-40? What other tips do you have for me? Some people here at work are saying that I can't do it myself because there is to much to do. I say to them it will be no problem. I want to make sure that I can pull it off. I was planning a dry run sometime this week. Thanks in advance.

Spraying WD-40 would be a good idea, especially on the bolts for the bumpers. I'd spray it on the night before and let is soak in all night.

If you have the 4L60E, which I would imaging you do, it is a cable and no welding of an extention is needed. I don't know about a manual floor shift 4x4 though. Someone else may be able to answer that.

I have seen a couple people mention that they installed it completely by themselves, but I had my brother and a couple friends helping out. I think trying to remove/install the bumpers would be kind of hard without help. We had a lot of fun doing it, and had enough people to have a couple working on different things at the same time. Does your kit come with the bumper brackets, or do you have to order them seperately?

1. Get a friend to help. Two sets of hands is sooo much better than just 1.

2. Use a 4x4 vice 2x4 to jack the body up. The 2x4 I was using kept sliding.

And most importantly, TAKE YOUR TIME. It's not a race, spend a whole saturday on it if you have to, just besure to follow the directions.

I installed a PA 3" lift on an 87 S-blazer by myself once, it was very simple, didnt seem to hard to do alone, but since you have a longer, heavier body, you might want another guy or two on the job with you.
