2016 GMC Sierra 5.3L Crew Cab Build Times

I didn't see anything on here about build times for this model so here it is.

How long did you wait and what issues did you have, if any?

I ordered a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500, SLT, 5.3L, 4x4, Z71, Stone Blue metallic, crew cab with standard bed. It's been two weeks and the dealer still doesn't have a tracking number or any word that they have even started it. I read about the 6.2L constraints and how long that stuff took and how some got lucky but who knows.

And yes I've seen this.

I ordered March 17th....was told it was built last week and scheduled to arrive in two weeks at the dealership.

I wouldn't worry yet, as its only been two weeks.

Oh I know it hasn't been long out of the 6-8 weeks that they told me but to go two weeks with no update doesn't surprise me. I just wanted to see what others have experienced during their wait and their build times.

From what I was told as soon as the order is placed into the GM system by either the salesman or the person doing the ordering you have an order number right away.

Constraints come out every week...

DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process

The weekly process consists of 4 stages.

1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.)

2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.)

3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.)

4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the orders are sent to production control.

Note - Orders will not move unless dealer has allocation.

I just called yesterday and he said he had to mess with the allocation. So does that mean he didn't finish ordering the truck? He said he does this all the time and they always come in, in 6 weeks. this was the general manager and the only person that can order.

A Dealer needs available allocation to place orders in the system.

His comments do not make sense, I would be suspect of anything he tells me.

Yeah the dealership seems like it's run by idiots so now I'm wondering his competence.

Well I finally got my order number for my truck...

Order number: TJJHPG

Order Status: 8-2070733877

Edit: I got ahold of Chevrolet and did the live chat. They said it has been accepted but they don't have a time frame on when it'll be built. Am I the only one that has waited 3 weeks just to get this far?

I had odered a 5.3 crew cab in February. I worried too when they couldn't even provide a build date, and it was 3 weeks in. Week 5 it was built, week 7 and 1/2 delivered to dealer, week 8 dealer finished PDI and delivered to me. Exactly their estimate.

Awesome! Week 7 lands on Memorial Day week so I'm wanting to get those promo's and save some more. I did read on here when it's built I can pay for it but id wait on signing the acceptance form until delivery. I think I might do that if I have too.
