Tow mirror running lights..big problem need help

Recommended Posts

I went to install some smoked klearz lenses on my tow mirror clearance lights today. Put them in the oven to soften the glue. Low temp for 12 minutes, center of oven, on a pan and they came out warped! They are warped beyond use and are no good at all. I've been searching the internet but can't seem to find just those for sale and i certainly can't afford to buy a whole new set of mirrors to get them. They have part numbers on the backs of them 807018 and 807019. Can i get them anywhere? I'd think gm would sell them separately in case one of the led's burned out or had an issue? I've baked headlights and other pieces before and never had an issue I don't know what happened... Thanks in advance

12 minutes is enough to melt any hard plastic. I usually bake them for 7 minutes max at 265 degree. I don't think GM would sell just those. you have to buy the whole new mirror.

I did 225 for 8 minutes at first and it didn't do a thing. Couldn't even begin to get anything between them to get them to start separating. Put them back in for a few more minutes and they are now junk.. Really stressing me out

I had asked a similar question a while back and received this info. I found them on ebay for $75.

The entire LED amber lens/lamp assembly for the driver side is p/n 23444106, 23444105 is the p/n for the passenger side amber mirror lamp. No...you don't have to buy the whole mirror.

Changing it on the other hand...a bit time/patience involved. You have to remove both mirror glass pieces:

Then you have to remove the mirror bezel (the black frame that is around the glass, has the tapered shield for the cargo lamp) by removing the screws that hold it in place, then you can get to the screws that hold the lamp in.

I ended up getting some from GM.. All done and installed on the truck now. That was an expensive mistake. Thanks for the help.
