Key Fob inconsistent response

Hey maybe someone can help figure this out. I have a 2015 Silverado first of all. The key fob worked great when I first got the truck but that hasn't been the case for awhile now.

For example there are times I can stand beside the truck, hit the button to unlock, wait and get no response. I then hit the button again with no response. Then out of frustration will hit it like 5 times and then it'll respond by unlocking like 4 times.

It does it with both key fobs. Other times it responds great. So I can't figure it out. The truck was serviced today and they looked at it and pulled any bulletins related to the key fob. They showed where some key fob signals get interference from various usb devices and chargers. I don't have any in my truck.

Thanks for any help provided

Have you installed any aftermarket electronics?

Electronics such as a tuner, cell phone chargers, USB adapters, HIDs, etc can often interfere with the fob receiver, TPMS and other wireless items.

If the short range happens at a particular location it might be some interference at that location. For example I installed a wireless WiFi camera on my garage. It interfered with the fob range on our vehicles and the garage door openers.

Hmmm, I do have a wifi enabled garage door. I don't park in it but perhaps that could be causing it. I'll start noting when and where it happens to try and narrow down when it occurs. All the other things you suggested I haven't done. Thanks for the tips

My 16 does this too. As I'm walking away and hit the lock button twice...the horn will finally honk like 20 secs later. I've noticed that the electronics in this truck are a little slow. Like when changing the radio stations...seems to have a while to "catch" up. I like how when you save an artist or song in XM to alert you when it comes on...it will alert you, but usually the song is halfway or just about done when it finally tells you!

POS made in China. Are you surprised that these remotes are malfunctioning?

Dumbest reply I've heard yet.

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
