New Truck Day

Recommended Posts

Posted

I finally got my new truck. I had a heck of a time trying to locate a Black Denali with the standard box, 6.2 engine and the 15% off promotion. I went to a few dealers and they wouldn't even look for one. Finally found a dealer who was helpful and located the truck I wanted. I'm really happy with it. The ride is awesome and it's very well appointed.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should keep the steps on, get rid of them completely or put on AMP power steps. Any opinions?

Very nice!! [emoji106] Congrats and welcome!!

My opinion is remove them if you don't actually use them and if you do get the Amps, if you don't mind spending the money. Saw Amps in person for the first time the other day and they are sweet!!

Any way you go, you got a nice looking truck there, enjoy!!

on a black on black truck, lose those steps and get the AMPS. I just installed mine 2 weeks ago, and I love them! They work great, awesome quality and very easy to install if you get the plug and play version. Plus your truck will look 10 times better when they are hidden.e94b9b8adb18750a1b81424423708d0d.jpg49b202460b1ea8d67b0d60a07ad7282e.jpg

That's real nice. If you're keeping the chrome details I'd keep the steps, but I'm a sucker for the chrome finishes.

If you want the chrome details, you can still get the AMP hidden steps. They make a chrome strip that you can add to the edge. I prefer the totally hidden option though, especially on a dark truck, you can't even tell that they are there.

Thanks fellas. Yea those amps are nice. I don't mind the cost so I think I'll go that direction. I plan on doing a small lift soon (I'm used to the height of my previous truck, 2500HD) so the Amps will come in handy.

That's not a bad idea. The chrome might compliment the chrome trim on the doors.

Congrats, add a Clear bra ASAP!

What's a clear bra? Never heard of it and I'm not going to mention what popped into my head.

Lol! It's paint protection film (PPF). Helps a ton on the painted front ends. Can barely tell it's there

I don't have my entire hood and fenders but the full bumper and door cups along with partial hood and fenders. I'm about to have the A pillars and 8-10" of the roof done.

There's the edge...

like Tallspawn stated, its a 3M film cover for paint protection. All current automotive paint is soft. I originally got the full bumper & 12-18" part way up the hood and fenders. Took it back and got full fenders and full hood, totally worth it for the full coverage.

Our lower bumpers and hood take some serious amount of rock chips.

a full coverage front, bumper lower/upper, fenders, hood piece if they can do will be about $1,000

Thanks for the pics Tallspawn, looks good. You may want to consider full coverage I like it better no lines on my fenders and hood esp... on black/onyx vehicles.

Yeah if I had it to do over I'd AT LEAST do the full hood. Not only for the seamless look but to help out with bird droppings as well! Dang birds love bombing this color for some reason. Anyway, after I do a couple more mods I'll probably go back and have it done...

To the OP, it is worth while but I'd stick with one of the big name self healing films. I picked Suntek since it had a smoother finish but Xpel and 3M are good too...make sure if you go 3M to get an installer knows about the issues they've had with adhesion, I've read certain films stick a little too well and can damage paint when removed. That might be fixed by now but just something to check into.
