Alright so I want to build my engine, but first I want to build my 4l60e transmission to hold that power. I have a 3000 stall convertor for it, is there any special parts I need to buy for the tranny that works with the convertor as well? Or can I build the tranny regardless of what the convertor size is?

I can only relate to you what I did to Sara (2001 Z28), she has the same transmission as you state, and I had a 3k Yank stall installed 14 years ago. Because of the smaller diameter of the TC, I had a B&M 24K cooler installed (dope style), and also a B&M aluminum 3 1/2 qt deep pan. I had the transmission beefed up with a TransGo shift kit, and had a Superior race grade 2-4 servo installed, also had the weak stamped stock flexplate replaced with a TCI SF-29 race grade unit using ARP grade 8 bolts.

 

Because of the higher stall (and rear end gear change), the transmission would "hunt" for gear, go in and out of lock up, however a good dyno tune corrected all the problems. I now go from "farfenugen to fukenmoven" in seconds.
