Nav Unlock

I have seen some posts on unlocking the nav and video, but I guess my question is, which is the best interface device to purchase to accomplish this? Also, is the install difficult? Thanks, Jeff

Head over to the MVI thread. Everything you need is there.

There a module that's a couple hundred bucks and there's actual programming to the HMI module that gives you a clean user interface.

I always get the built-in Nav just to have it handy without messing with wires. It doesn't really bother me that the driver can't use the Nav while the vehicle is in motion........but it pisses me off why they also lock out the passenger. GM designs a vehicle to determine if a passenger is seated for air bag control switching......why not use this as an unlock for the Nav system also?

If the designers are so concerned that the driver would mess with the passenger seat using a sandbag or play with the seat pressure switch, why not place a momentary switch out of reach of the driver that the passenger has to press with the right hand while programming the Nav with the left hand? Damn annoying to stop the vehicle to program the Nav while the passenger can easily do it while in motion without distracting the driver.

Use the Onstar App to bypass the nannies.

My navigation works while I'm in motion if there is someone in the passenger seat

Thanks to RhinoGuy.

I would have driven the Silverado for years figuring it worked like the older ones. No longer have to stop to set the Nav destination or programming before moving if there is a passenger present. GM finally got their Nav straight with a separate warning screen that pops up asking to confirm if the passenger wishes to program the Nav.
