treesovertexas Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I posted in another thread I have a list together for mods to my truck. (2000 6.0 - 4l80e). Truck is a tows on a daily basis. I'm planning to install gears, headers, full exhaust, custom tune, and performance brakes. I've already been getting feedback for gears, however would like to hear from someone in the tuning section. Is there anything particular I should look for in a tuner when looking for tow power? I want no fuel savings, I simply want to move my power down low, where I need it, when leaving the light with a heavy load. Any particular tune suggested here? As of right now, I'm thinking about having Texas Speed to do the dyno tune, gears, and headers / exhaust at the same time.
Big Whiskey Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Check out Black Bear Performance. Many guys on here are very happy with them.
kstruckcountry Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I don't see much point in a dyno tune for a daily driven vehicle. You can have a tune on the dyno that drives awful in "real life". I think the transmission tuning is where people notice the biggest difference in regular driving. I went with Black Bear and have no regrets. Tuned for 3 years now. They'll tweak a tune for whatever purpose you have in mind. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Jennabear Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Gears and tune will help with down low. Headers might hurt, just depends on what size you go with. Supercharger will definitely get you up and moving from the line. Exhaust provides no performance value. Sent from my fone.
