2011 Gmc sierra dashboard lights don't turn on at night

I have a 2011 gmc sierra, the dashboard lights turn on during the day but when it's night or im under a shade the lights turn off. There is nothing blocking the sensor. Can someone offer a solution or suggest what i need to have replaced?

I would take a look at the dash light dimmer and see if it is maybe set to a very low setting. Have you tried turning the headlights on manually at night? Have you replaced any bulbs recently?
