esu78 Posted June 1, 2003 Posted June 1, 2003 Anyone change the factory SubWoofer w/ another brand? The subwoofer located in the rear panel. In a Tahoe/Suburban Any ideas? Thoughts recommendation? Id like to keep/install similar configuration without giving up the cargo space. Thanks! John
01Burb Posted June 1, 2003 Posted June 1, 2003 Do a search. Someone here is using a JBL unit that is the correct depth and fits very well.

Axxlrod Posted July 29, 2003 Posted July 29, 2003 esu78, I'm in the same boat as you. I want to add bass to my 03 Yukon sound system. I'd like to swap out the factory sub with an aftermarket one. I haven't had any luck finding a solution or any good info on what other people have done successfully. Anybody out there that can help us?
esu78 Posted August 3, 2003 Author Posted August 3, 2003 Axxlrod Hey ! Great- good luck Well I finally got the factory subwoofer enclosure I added a JL Audio 8" Subwoofer and a Rockford Fosgate Sub Mono Amp. (125Watts) It sounds decent. Does not rock the block, but if you are looking for an added thump, this seems to be just right. Also does not give up cargo space. I did have some trouble installing the subwoofer box in the factory location. Since my vehicle (03 Tahoe) was not equipped for this, the jack, and jack tools were somewhat in the way of installation. (the bolt where tools screw onto) I had to cut out the plastic molding for the 8" opening, and still need to add some type of grille guard. I also recommend dampening material through out the rear area, as there is viabration. Let me know if you need further info. John
Axxlrod Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 esu78, Please post pics, if you have them, but definitely please explain the process in greater detail. What exactly did you do and how did you do it? Please help us un-enlightened folk. thanks.

pmaggan Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 The guys that did my DVD/Video install have some pics of a sub replacement/install on their web site: http://www.autosoundky.com/custom_installs...ic.asp?car_id=4 I don't know any of the details, but I'm tempted to give them a call and see what they did.
bzb Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 Man, everyone has great ideas on this board! Can someone give me some pointers on how you get the plastic console piece off where the factory sub goes? Do you just pull the thing off? TIA!
