Transmission and TSB question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD with a 6.0 Vortec and the 4L80e transmission with 84k miles on it. My transmission is whining loudly in 1st gear.

Since I bought the truck used it is out of warranty. I would like to eliminate the noise and understand there is a TSB about this (PIP3259J or something similar). I called the GMC dealer I bought the truck from and they said this would not be covered by any type of warranty and the cost to fix it would be in excess of $2k. How is it possible that a manufacturer knows there is a defect in the product and provides no help? What recourse do I have? I bought the truck in August of last year.

1. a TSB is NOT a recall, and its Not a statement of workmanship or parts.

2. a TSB can be a tool used for warranty work on vehicles

3. No dealer in their right mind would even guess exactly the problem and give you a cheap price to lure you in then hit you with reality. They, and you have No idea what the truck was used for by its former owner

3. for a few hundred more you can get it rebuilt and updated...
