Just got a 2012 Z71--- What do I need to know?

Hi all,

I have been a member here since long ago, but I have not logged on in ages. Mostly because I had my 2004 Z71 for 12 years and felt like I knew the truck inside and out.

 

Now that I have upgraded to a 2012 Silverado 5.3/6speed, What do I need to know about this new to me style of truck?

Any issues to watch for?

Neat features I might not know about yet?

Good add ons? Maybe leveling kit or tune?

 

It's got 45000 miles and it's the extended cab. Basically this will be my truck to build up trade in value so I can get that brand new 2020 GMC in 4 years and have some trade in value.

Watch your rear fenders they are starting to rot out up here in New Hampshire I soak mine with fluid film and wash them out after winter.

Keep an eye on the wax frame coating. I inspect mine yearly, and scrape the loose wax off, and touch up with the correct Dauberts X-121B black wax. My frame and undercarriage still looks new after 3 harsh NY winters.

 

Also, disable the AFM by using a tuner, or Range device.
