So I took a trip to Costco, loading my 50lb jars of peanut butter and such, and I noticed that my truck was moving, not the truck but the bed. SO I checked it out and it was infested with ants. EVERYWHERE, drove home and busted out the RAID!!!!! I had to take out the tail lights, spray into the tie down holes. inside the trailer hitch, ALL OVER.....I found the queen though, I opened up the light hookup for my trailerhitch, and it was filled with thousands of ants and eggs. It was really rather gross. Killed em all then took it to the car wash, hopefully that is the end of the story, and they didn't get into anything like the gas tank. Thats all I need is ants in my engine.

Does anyone know of a good way to get my skin to stap crawling? Now I think I have ants on me all the time.

:devil::confused::cheers:

sorry no pics, best I can figure, they took refuge from the rain. Last week we got about a foot of rain(ft.Lauderdale) so they probably moved in then. I'm not sure what they were, they weren't big enough to be fire ants, but to big to be sugar ants. But they did have wings, and pretty big eggs. Kinda pissed me off, cause I had just taken it to the car wash last week, first time I hosed it out since christmas, I still had part of the tree back there.

Better than bats in the belfry. :lol:

That is weird though. Never heard of ants nesting in a truck.

That is really odd. We have had work trucks parked outside for long periods of time and never had any ants move into them...we did however have a female wasp make a mud nest on the sunvisor of our '86 Ranger...it was not big though and she wasn't too aggressive.

AS long as we are on Ants stories....

I went to Savanah GA a few years ago to visit my parents... I crashed for the night in the guestroom of their new house with my wife. I had taken off my shorts that I had been wearing on the drive down and dropped them on the floor by the door.

I had driven all night and stayed in bed until about 10 Am, and when I got up I grabbed my shorts off the floor and headed out into the living room to get a cup of coffee.

Well, my Jeans Shorts that I had thrown by the door appearantly attracted some "fireAnts"... Those SOB's are some biting MF'rs, and I ripped my pants off in front of my parents and wife and kids!!!!! They laughed about it for days, and I scratched at the welts for days!!!!

There is alot of truth to the saying "ants in your pants" !!! LOL!!! :lol:

OK the best control for ants is bait that the workers can carry back to the nest. That way you c=get the queen and the colony dies. Max Force is a good bait that works well even for fire ants. scatter it on the ground near a known colony and they will find it. It is a slow kill but thorough. A good in house chemicle is Delta Gaurd. It has great knock down for all insects and il very long lasting. The best part is it has little or no odor and is not toxic to pets and kids when used correctly. Of course always let the material dry before allowing pets or humans in the area.

Control is a two pronged attack. Spray around the house to keep them out and bait near the colony to get rid of the queen.

I doubt if anyone cares about this subject but there you go.

Wal-mart sells a great ant killer, called Amdro, that the ants carry back into the nest. It will kill the queen ant, and destroy the whole colony, in just a couple of days.
