fan clutch

Is it possible for the fan clutch to make rattle sound while turning but be working correctly. No over heating issues. no roaring sound, just sounds like couple marbles being tossed around in a metal can. I ran engine with belt off and all is quite.

it could be possible, i replaced a fan clutch in a chevy astro minivan and she had hit a deer with the van it still worked fine but it mad a grinding noise internally due to the radiator being shoved into it. small metal chunks were inside of it, broken off the shaft/clutch.

I had one sounded like a rattling licence plate....
