As stated, truck sounds like it has an exhaust leak around 1500 RPM right before down shift, V8 mode. The radio has to be off to hear it, and now i'm tuned into it so I always hear it. Dealer said it was fuel pump, I'm not buying it having had many fords with leaking manifolds. Has anyone run across this issue/sound?

Flapper valve in the exhaust possibly? I don't notice any noise like that in my 15, but maybe I'm just not noticing it

Good possibility. I was told that it was the fuel pump, and that they are quiet when you buy the truck but get louder.

So I guess the question is, does anyone have a loud "fuel pump"

Did the dealer attempt to fix it? I noticed a whistling noise when I have the windows down. It starts about 1800 rims in 2nd gear under acceleration. It gets higher pitch as rpms increase.

No they didn't... They gave me the old hand on the back let me show you to the door "it's all ok sir".. Who has time to argue with someone who doesn't know the difference between a nut and bolt.

Just haven't had the time for a second opinion. I looked myself and didn't see any carbon showing anywhere, but I'm highly skeptical of their diagnosis.

I assure you this truck didn't make that noise when I bought it. The dealer told me it gets louder after you put some miles on it.

This sounds like my problem as well. If we are hearing the same noise, I can attest to how annoying it is. the dealer has replaced my fuel lines, fuel pump and still haven't fixed it. i said for day one it sounds like an exhaust leak but they are the experts.

See this tread and see if it sounds familiar.

I’m convinced it’s the ball and socket connection on the Y pipe to the header/manifold. The passenger side doesn’t have that connection and I do t hear anything from that side whatsoever. I’ve done Hooker Blackheart header on my 2018 5.3 and am about to cut/weld the Y pipe on driver side to make a connection exactly like the passenger side. 💯 it will fix the exhaust leak problem everyone is experiencing
