Thunder edition

I've got a guy wanting to trade with me and he has a 2006 Silverado thunder edition. Can somebody tell me what makes a thunder a thunder? What should I look for to know if it's a thunder or not?

I can tell you that its not a factory GM option package, so there's not going to be an RPO code for it, it had to be dealer installed.

Best I can tell is it was an aftermarket package built by a dealership called Courtesy Chevrolet in Arizona that included some performance upgrades that included a supercharger. Haven't been able to find a 2006 that's a Thunder edition to be sure. I have read that those vehicles with that package had some mechanical issues due to the performance upgrades so I believe they stopped making them but I can't find when they did stop.

 

I was also able to find that there is/was a thunder package in the GMT900 series trucks but it seemed to be Canada exclusive. This however was only a trim package, didn't appear to be any performance upgrades.

Well this one doesn't have a supercharger. Looks to have an aftermarket cold air intake. That's what made me wonder if it was legit or not. Maybe they didn't put a supercharger in some? Idk. Very clean truck though. Leather heated seats 160k miles, so I'll probably end up trading him. Just didn't know if maybe it would tell in the vin or not

I have a Thunder Edition it is a factory GM option package that combines the Special Edition and Chrome Edition. It is an LT and was only offered for sale brand new in Canada.
