Can't figure out my trailer brake controller.

Hey there, I've been trying to install my trailer brake controller into my 06 sierra denali. When I plug the adapter into the block under the dash and tap the brake the indicator light on the front doesn't come on. I can't seem to find any reason it wont work. When I bought the truck it had it already installed but never worked. Went and bought a new one and same thing, and my truck also has a plug in the box for a fifth wheel. When I plug into a trailer everything functions other thank the brake controller.

It's a tekonsha voyager controller

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I read somewhere about the power for the brake controllers being tied up near the fuse block somewhere and not actually hooked up. You have to tap it in or bolt it to the auxiliary stud on the block to power it up.

Never experienced this personally. The 2001, 2008, and 2015 's that I've installed brake controllers on all worked by just plugging in under the dash.

Yeah, it's one of the large fuses in the underhood load center. The fuse is not installed from the factory, and is taped to the pigtail. Install the fuse, and you should have power to the controller.

I seem to recall it was called something like "Stud #1."
